The numerous construction sites in the town of Viersen are perceived by many residents as a burden, a nuisance and an eyesore. However, the fact that they also bring about innovation and change is forgotten. The work “Out of a clear sky” floats like a grey and white structure, with a purely technical appearance and like a twisted banister, above a shell of a building in a new development area in Viersen. At first glance, it looks like a building element, but then very quickly all logic defies and a moment of confusion comes up. While a circular saw or a pallet of bricks is hanging from other cranes on the construction site, the steel sculpture is suspended from one. Not only is the location unusual, but the timing of the intervention also follows different rules. It does not begin at a fixed time, but when the crane is free, and it only lasts until the crane is needed for other purposes. There are no visitors to the exhibition in the traditional sense; they are random passers-by and the craftsmen and builders of the construction sites. As randomly and inconspicuously as it was raised, the sculpture disappears from this place again.

Die zahlreichen Baustellen der Stadt Viersen werden von vielen Einwohner als Belastung, Umstand und als unschön empfunden. Dass sie aber auch Innovation und Wandel hervorrufen, gerät dabei in Vergessenheit. Die Arbeit „Out of a clear sky“ schwebt wie ein grau-weißes Gebilde, mit einer rein technischen Anmutung, wie ein verdrehtes Treppengeländer, über einem Rohbau im Viersener Neubaugebiet. Sie wirkt auf den ersten Blick wie ein Bauelement, entzieht sich dann aber sehr schnell jeglicher Logik und erzeugt einen Moment der Verwirrung. Während an anderen Kränen der Baustellen eine Kreissäge oder eine Palette Ziegelsteine hängt, wird an einem die Stahl-Skulptur aufgehangen. Nicht nur der Ort ist ungewöhnlich, auch der Zeitpunkt der Intervention folgt anderen Regeln. Sie beginnt zu keinem festgelegten Zeitpunkt, sondern dann, wenn der Kran frei ist, und dauert auch nur solange, bis der Kran wieder für andere Zwecke benötigt wird. Ausstellungsbesucher gibt es nicht im klassischen Sinne, es sind zufällige Passanten und eben die Handwerker und Bauherren der Baustellen. So zufällig und unscheinbar, wie sie hochgezogen wurde, verschwindet die Skulptur auch wieder von diesem Ort.
